You're right about the Nolan Batman films lacking that element of fantasy and mysticism; it's really not necessarily a bad thing given the context. However, the definitive "other media" version of Batman for me would have to Batman: The Animated Series. That has the feel of the characters down so well. The Arkham games, also made with the involvement of Paul Dini, extend that into a darker, grittier world, yet one where comic books elements don't feel out of place.Jedd the Jedihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07061629796666809598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6604448036056042779.post-7818421535754262232011-12-27T14:53:52.275-08:002011-12-27T14:53:52.275-08:00I like the way you write and most of all the way y...I like the way you write and most of all the way you respect every aspect of The Batman series. I personally am a fan of Burton's works, and I also like Nolan's efforts, so I can say that I agree on many things. Behind Batman's mask, surely Michael Keaton is the best, the most frightning and disturbing, and he acts more like an anti-hero rather than a super-hero, that's amazing for me. As Bruce Wayne, Christian Bale is the most believable, nobody would ever think he is The Batman, while Keaton was too obvious. Finally, on Gotham City and the environment, Anton Furst's Gotham is definitely a piece of art. Chris Nolan wants everything to be real, logical and plausible, but wait just a second; in modern times, today, how much will it take to the police to catch Batman with satellites, GPS, spy and all of this technology?? One or 3 days, maybe?? Absolutely unplausible, Mythbusters would call it "busted"! Instead, Burton kept the chracter in a fantasy world, with no specific time (technology from the future with cars from the 70's and people from the 40's), making it the most logical and believable. Personally, 1989 "Batman" will always be in my heart, it has a fascination that no other movie has ever had. Nolan is a great director, but he's too technical, and not an artist. His works are good, but lacks of that brilliant fantasy that Burton has.Funzi159https://www.blogger.com/profile/08406685853889202544noreply@blogger.com
